3 ways to Successfully Complete your New Year’s Resolution.

New Years Fire Stick

As a New Year approaches, we begin to reflect and reevaluate areas in our lives.  It is something about the New Year that sets everyone in motion to do things a little different than before? Every year you declare a New Year resolution and is deposited into the atmosphere with the intentions that you will, well, at least attempt to see it through.

The problem is that many of us never check off half of the resolutions if any at all. Have you ever pondered on the reason for this being so? Could it be that although you spoke it you never had the intentions on doing it. Maybe you just never believed it could happen to you? Oh yes, you’ll be on your grind for the first few days, but by the time day 30 comes around your list is gone with the wind.

This inconsistent behavior does not only pertain to you, but many others also have this same habit. You are always found talking about it, but never being about it. This year I will lose 10lb.  It will be this year that I will start my business.  Yes, this year I will write my first book.  This year I will….blah blah blah. Look, it’s good you have a dream, but I can I keep it 100? That dream will always be just that “a dream” unless YOU wake up and set that dream into motion.  Your dream can become YOUR reality.

1. Focus

Understand first and foremost that you may not be able to do everything, but you can do what you were called to do. When you started your resolution list did you pray first?  Maybe you began jotting down ideas that you would like to see down for yourself? Oops did I step on your toes, because I just tripped myself up?

I too am guilty of writing what I want for myself first.  Then, I will pray later on for guidance.  I wasn’t until now that I realized I have been doing this thing all wrong. This year if you want your outcomes to be different than prior, then it’s time to narrow your attention to what God wants for you instead of what you think is best for you to get ahead.

2. Say No

If you are that person that always says yes every time someone comes before you requesting your assistance, then I am talking to you. You mean well and I know you do because I was once that same person. It took a while to get that word “No” in my vocabulary, but when I finally did, I was able to accomplish so much more.

What begins to take place when you are always answering “yes” is that you focus then becomes fixated someone else’s priority. This year it’s time to get a little selfish but not in a negative way. Become selfish enough to where your obligations matter. If presented with a task that does not line up with the focus point God has for you this year then politely decline and press forward.

3. Prioritize

Prioritizing is not a skill that I possessed from the time of birth. I had to develop this skill, and honestly, I am still a work in progress. What helps me most is allowing myself 3 Top priorities for the Quarter.  Then, I break my task down into weeks.  Lastly, 3 Smaller Top priorities for the day. I am not stressed, and I get things done. How else would I have been able to launch One Heiress Lane in 90 days after purchasing my site hosting? Get 50% off your hosting plan with BlueHost.
